2024 Cicada Slumber: The Great Emergency of Brood XIX

Have you heard about the big emergence? After spending 13 years living under the ground, this summer the 13 year cicada (referred to as Brood XIX) will claw its way to the surface by the thousands and change into a quite bizarre-looking adult. Often they create an almost deafening sounds as they make this transition. Discover what factors led to this very unusual lifecycle as we learn more about Brood XIX Cicada through a presentation and hands-on activity, including outdoor walk in search of some Cicadas to catch and examine more closely.
