Enhancing Connectivity for All
The Piedmont Triad Regional Development Corporation has developed a Broadband Mapping Fabric Application aimed at enhancing internet accessibility and connectivity across the Piedmont Triad region. Experts spanning various sectors will contribute to this goal by improving a national dataset called the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Broadband Fabric. This collaborative effort brings together state and local government, industry leaders, and technology experts to assess the digital divide and improve equitable access to high-speed broadband services for residents in all communities.
Key Project Goals include:
- Mapping Broadband Access - Identifying areas with limited or no access to high-speed internet services, allowing for targeted expansion efforts.
- Speed and Reliability Assessment - Assessing the speed, reliability, and quality of existing broadband connections to ensure they meet modern digital needs.
- Community Engagement - Engaging with local communities, businesses, and residents to gather valuable insights and feedback on their broadband experiences.
- Identifying Funding Opportunities - Leveraging the data collected to secure federal and state funding for broadband infrastructure development and expansion.
- Promoting Digital Inclusion - Developing strategies to bridge the digital divide, ensuring all residents and businesses can thrive in a digitally connected world.
