Imagine a network of green havens blooming across the Piedmont Triad, each one more than just a garden – a vibrant hub of social connection and purpose. The Piedmont Triad Area Agency on Aging is embarking on a visionary journey to explore the potential of community gardens as a powerful tool to combat isolation, promote physical and mental well-being, and cultivate a sense of community among older adults.Hands holding plant

This is a pilot program in its exploration phase. We see these gardens transcending the act of simply growing vegetables, offering profound benefits for seniors. We're actively seeking partnerships with community organizations that share our vision of improving senior well-being through gardening.

Together, we can create vibrant spaces where seniors can:

  •  Connect with others and build lasting relationships
  •  Share experiences and knowledge
  •  Enjoy the therapeutic benefits of gardening
  •  Cultivate fresh, healthy produce

Our exploration phase focuses on:

  •  Identifying potential funding sources
  •  Locating suitable garden sites
  •  Building a network of long-term volunteers
  •  Establishing partnerships with community organizations
