Randolph Creek Week May 2025 - Stay Tuned!
Creek Week is an initiative of KEEP RANDOLPH COUNTY BEAUTIFUL (KRCB, an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful) and its local government partners, including Randolph County, City of Ashboro, City of Archdale, Town of Randleman, and City of Trinity. Stormwater SMART helps host Creek Week events alongside KRCB and helps bring programming to Ramseur, Franklinville, Seagrove, Liberty, and other communities in Randolph County.
Randolph Creek Week is a time to get together with friends, family, and neighbors to learn about water quality, help clean up litter from a creek or stream, and have fun while we do it!
Several important watersheds are within or partially within Randolph County, including Haskett Creek and Muddy Creek.
A watershed includes land area that drains into a body of water at its lowest point. When a watershed contains mostly plant cover, rain soaks into the ground and creeks and streams flow cleanly into rivers, lakes, and reservoirs.
As land area gets developed, hard surfaces such as roads, parking lots, and rooftops make the ground impervious, creating large amounts of fast-flowing stormwater runoff. This runoff picks up dirt and litter, heavy metals and other hazardous particles and carries it all to the nearest storm drain. The storm system is separate from the sewer system; unlike wastewater, it's not treated or filtered before it enters the nearest waterway!

Follow on Facebook & Instagram @wilderuwharrietrailrunning. If a hike needs to be canceled due to weather, etc. we will post an update the day before on our Facebook and Instagram pages, as well as update this information on our website.
Expected walk duration will be approximately 1 hr to 1.5 hrs maximum and we will cover approximately 1 to 1.5 miles. The primary focus of these events is on the TIME spent together in nature with our children, not the distance covered.
Please bring your own snacks and water and have a way to carry any supplies you may need for your family.
We respectfully ask no dogs please during "Wild Walks With Littles" in consideration of our littles who may be afraid of dogs! Dogs on leashes are welcome to join group runs on Saturdays or any of our other events!
Lastly, we will follow Leave No Trace outdoor principals at all events. Please visit https://www.nps.gov/articles/leave-no-trace-seven-principles.htm to learn more!
