The Piedmont Triad Regional Council in partnership with the Piedmont Land Conservancy is hosting a workshop entitled “Conservation Easements - Protecting Our Water Quality.” This program is designed to educate lawyers, accountants, planners and natural resource professionals on the potential economic benefits of protecting land through conservation and trail easements. The program will highlight new laws surrounding conservation easements, procedures for ensuring tax credits for donated easements and other relevant information including the Internal Revenue Service requirements for “qualified” appraisals. Skills in appraising conservation easements using the “before and after” method will be highlighted as well as new laws that were enacted as part of the fiscal cliff negotiations.
