Caswell County Transportation Priorities

Public Review & Comment Session

The North Carolina Department of Transportation has published a ranked list of transportation priorities based upon roadway data including congestion, travel times, safety, accessibility and others. There are ranked lists of highway, bicycle, pedestrian, transit, rail and aviation projects. Projects from all modes serving local and regional needs will have formal input from local NCDOT divisions and metropolitan and rural planning organizations (MPOs/RPOs). This input may affect whether a project is funded or not. The Piedmont Triad Rural Planning Organization (RPO) invites you to learn more about these projects, their scores and add your voice to where the RPO should prioritize projects.

The purpose of each meeting is to review project scores and identify the highest priority projects each County to be considered by the Piedmont Triad RPO Transportation Advisory Committee June 18, 2014. These projects will be scored by the Piedmont Triad RPO according to the prioritization policy available at www.ptrc.org/ptrpo. The PTRPO scores will then be submitted for consideration in the North Carolina Transportation Improvement Program for 2016-2025. Many changes have occurred to the transportation prioritization process, referred to as Strategic Transportation Investments. Projects for all modes of transportation will be available for review—highway, bicycle-pedestrian, public transportation, aviation, and rail.

As an important stakeholder in transportation issues, the Piedmont Triad RPO seeks your input. The meeting is a drop-in, workshop format and will include a brief overview of the new process, scores and other information. Attendees will have opportunities to provide feedback through comment cards as they visit stations for each transportation mode. If you are unable to attend, but wish to have your input included, please e-mail your comments to jday@ptrc.org or visit www.ptrc.org/ptrpo for more information.
