Designation of the Piedmont Triad Regional Development Corporation as an Economic Development District

EDA sealThe Economic Development Administration (EDA) of the U.S. Department of Commerce has approved the designation of the Piedmont Triad Regional Development Corporation as an Economic Development District (EDD).

The EDA’s Deputy Assistant Secretary for Regional Affairs, Thomas Guevara, will present the designation Monday, August 17, 2:00 p.m. at the offices of the PTRC in Kernersville.

With the designation as EDD for the area, the Piedmont Triad Regional Development Corporation will be able to receive federal EDA grants that are not available otherwise. By serving as a clearing house, the PTRDC will coordinate relationships and share information among state and federal grant programs and local communities. Through the EDD, federal money will be available annually so that the PTRDC can provide administrative support for economic developers, write grant applications for multi-jurisdictional projects, support workforce and community college initiatives, and provide a springboard for other development ventures.
