Who we are
Piedmont Triad Regional Food Council (PTRFC) is a food policy council of stakeholders that represent a broad array of food system sectors and a balance of rural, urban, socio-economic, cultural, racial, and gender backgrounds from each of the 12-counties in the Piedmont Triad Region.
Vision
Communities united for an inclusive, healthy, and resilient local food economy
The council envisions a Piedmont Triad region comprised of:
- Well-networked well-resourced food councils
- Regional planning and policy process that consistently consider local food impacts
- Representation from each county in the 12-county region through regional or local food councils

What We Do
● Influence Policy: provide credible fiscal and administrative structure to leverage resources and to build political and public support

●Strengthen Systems: research and analyze local food system economic development and policy opportunities
Regional Food System Assessment
In 2021, we completed a multi-year comprehensive data-based regional food systems analysis that centers on building equity for the 12 -county Piedmont Triad Region. The goal was to develop a regional food system growth plan for strategic investments to boost economic and community health and development activity through local foods. Local Food Infrastructure Inventory Map
The PTRC partnered with the North Carolina Growing Together Project to create a mapped inventory of businesses that serve as intermediary steps in local food supply chains across North Carolina:
The local food economy is also represented in Triad Tomorrow - the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) developed by the Piedmont Triad Regional Development Corporation.
